Journey of Blog Posting

This is my experience in blogging. I really enjoyed blogging about this topic, since grade 12 I had thought of writing an article which emphasis on the education system of Bangladesh because since childhood i have encountered a common question that all the students studying in Bangladesh have come across, "you study in English medium or Bengali medium school!"  Hence, while blogging i had a chance to look deep into the major difference in the education system of Bangladesh and how the use of ICT have been initiated.

There were few limitations that i have faced during my journey of blogging. few of them were

Less survey reports from Madras-ha and public Bengali medium schools.

People were reluctant to reveal the right information

Very few coordination from the students that I interviewed

very limited data online

 There were some interesting issues that i have encountered for instance:

1. It was my very first experience in video and photo uploading in YouTube and Picasa

2. I have learnt many technical issues, such as how to transfer my raw files into compressed form.

3. The experience with Storify.

I  will continue writing and working on this blog, and cover most of the rural areas in Bangladesh, as one of the limitation that i have faced was time constraint because the project is a vast topic and i had limited time and difficulties finding the resources. Therefore I would like to go for further research in this topic which i might use in my nearby studies.

The above link is a short video on the use of ICT, particularly computer in the orbit of education in Bangladesh. The video consists of three parts:

1.           A private English medium school where almost all of the classes are conducted with the assistance of ICT. not only computer classes are scheduled in routine for students but also there are weekly training sessions for faculty members to use ICT efficiently in their classes. 

2.           A short video uploaded on YouTube to facilitate the emigrated citizens of Bangladesh to learn English and practice their daily conversation.

3.           The third video is about an English and Bengali medium school where they teach, English, Bengali and Islamic studies with the medium of ICT.

        Therefore the record shows how students in both English and Bengali medium are gradually learning and getting accustomed with the use of ICT in their studies. Which enables them to have a broader view of what they study.

In this slide-show it shows, the overview of this blog. Most of the pictures in the slide-show uphold the main concept of this blog as it depicts the lifestyle of the young generation who are been deprived from the basic right of education, when the elected government of Bangladesh have been promising to ensure a digital Bangladesh which will enrich the Country as a digital nation and will also ensure that all the young population are educated with the medium of ICT. In the reality leave alone the concept of ICT in education system of Bangladesh, there is not enough school or education institutes that can ensure the primary education for the young population. 

Though the number of Child Labor has reduced but these young children are not being enrolled in school rather they are working in the informal sector of the economy thus, not contributing to the better development of the society.

Moreover, few of the photos also states how ICT in education and the use of social media in the digital world have ensured young generation to be more proactive and initiate projects that have brought few changes, such as enrolling student in primary schools, creating awareness for hygiene healthy life.

Therefore, ICT  can and have bought changes not only in the education system in Bangladesh but also have helped in the development of the nation.

Future overview of the Education system in Bangladesh

 Taking into consideration  many of the survey reports and the interviews conducted in particular for this blog, the prediction for the future  of the education system in Bangladesh with the interference of ICT in it, is that if the government policies are revised and the regulation for Education system and student enrollment is considered in a fairer way then the it will bring in a paradigm change. Where as many think that the concept of Digital Bangladesh is possible if the corruption rate is reduced and the young generation are very proactive.  Whereas firstly students as well as teachers in the new generation should have complete knowledge about the use and importance of ICT then only the accurate  implementation will be assured.

Therefore, the future of the education system in Bangladesh can flourish if and only if the contribution from government, teachers and students are in a collaborative way, that is if teachers who are known to be digital immigrant, as they are not experts in the field of ICT in education try their best to learn and interact with students with the medium of ICT. Moreover students those are tend to be digital natives, are using and interacting ICT in education as well as in their usual life then it can bring a drastic change. The only task of government will be to enforce laws and regulation that can assure the implementation of ICT in education system of Bangladesh.

There are many successful stories of ICT in Education in countries like, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines.

The limitation of using ICT in Education.

Developing countries like Bangladesh, where the government regulation is corrupted and the regulation and enforcement of laws in the education sector are very minimal 
has many limitation of using ICT in the domain of education. the main limitations are elaborated below:

• Lack of electricity generation
• Low internet frequency
• Less knowledge of the teachers.

Lack of electricity generation: Most of the time in both urban and rural area the electricity cuts off for more than 2 to 3 hours. even there are cases when the electricity has been out for whole day. In this scenario the use of ICT is very difficult and even people are reluctant to use it as it keeps on pending the work load thus electricity is a huge barrier is the development of the education sector.

Another limitation is the low frequency, the government of Bangladesh is still not aware of the importance of use of internet and how internet can enable many deprived society to be enriched and gain knowledge about many different categorical. Hence the internet penetration in Bangladesh is very low as well as the low frequency assures such low penetration

Less knowledge of the teachers: Use of ICT in the education sector inn Bangladesh will only be possible if and only if the teachers and faculty members in school, college and universities make the most use of it, where as due to lack of knowledge about its use and advantages they are reluctant to use it, resulting in a backward society.

A continuous 46 hours Strike. 

Since 1991, Bangladesh moved to a parliamentary democracy, and thus the President is now a largely ceremonial post elected by the parliament. After its democracy the election of two opposition parties have been elected on the citizens vote, which ensures and promises its citizens to have a safe life and will fulfill all the basic needs and act democratically. Whereas the scenario in reality has been diverse. the political unrest and the call of strike has made the economy downfall as well as many life taking actions have shattered most of the citizens life. Considering the scenario this political unrest and hyper tension in the country has resulted in a breakdown of the education system that has been corrupted as well as have failed in many spectrum. For instance classes in schools and colleges are called off due to such instability, resulting in session jots, examination delays as well as a huge student enrollment gaps.

Due to corruption and irresponsible governance the education system in Bangladesh has failed in the development. For instance talking into consideration of a very recent case, A continuous 48 hours strikes, political unrest has resulted in a very drastic change in the school enrollments as well as job markets. Therefore such instability has resulted as a barrier in the development of the nation. Hence implementing ICT in education will enable students to stay back at home and fulfill their session studies. Moreover due to corruption the enrollment process in public school, college and Universities are very irrational hence, using ICT in the process of education will enable the government to solve the problem as well as help the young uprising generation to look for a brighter future.
